Inline with its vision to enhance an efficient and productive workforce, a two-day free health care service will be organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI).
The event is scheduled to take place on February 8 and 9, 2024. The aim of this program is to provide members of the union with access to various medical services to improve their health and wellbeing.
The free healthcare services will include screening for hypertension, diabetes, blood pressure, eye screening with the distribution of free eye glasses, Hepatitis B Test, HIV Test, Blood Sugar Test, Cervical Cancer Screening, and BMI Check. The medical personnel that will be available during the event will have specialisation in various aspects of medicine, and will be equipped to provide journaliists in Edo State with the best medical attention they need.
The venue for the event as stated in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Union, Andy Egbon and made available to Uptown Press on Monday is the New Conference Hall, NUJ Press Centre, No 1 Sir Gabriel Igbinedion Way, GRA, Benin City, and the program will begin at 9 am each day. To ensure that the exercise runs smoothly, the leadership of NUJ has scheduled the days for every chapel to appear for the exercise. The schedule for the exercise is:

The statement noted that state of the art medical facilities will be deployed for the exercise and implore
Chapel leaders to prepare their members for the free medical check up in line with the time table released above.
The program is free of charge and is aimed at helping members of the union to prioritise their health and wellbeing.
