A tragic incident has occured at the Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, where two students have been shot dead in an apparent cult clash.
The incident occurred last Friday, and the gunmen responsible are yet to be identified.
The unfortunate event happened just two days after a student named Eddy was reportedly beaten for allegedly using a “fake bank alert” to purchase items. This incident was misconstrued as an attack by a rival cult group, leading to a retaliation and ultimately resulting in the deaths of the two students on Friday.
Uptown Press learned that, one of the victims was a 400-level student in the Faculty of Agriculture and a student union official. According to reports, the incident took place at the Poultry Road extension in Ekpoma.
Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday. He stated that some suspects have been arrested, and the investigation is currently ongoing.
