Edo 2024: Secretary to State Government Resigns Ahead of Gubernatorial Election

The Secretary to the Edo State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie, has officially resigned from his position as he prepares to pursue his political ambitions.
Ogie’s resignation, submitted on Friday, comes ahead of the upcoming governorship election in Edo State, scheduled for September 21, 2024.

Ogie, who is the running mate to Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, stated that his decision to step down is in line with the requirements of the electoral law.
According to the law, political appointees who intend to contest in elections must resign from their positions at least 30 days before the election date.

In his resignation letter, Ogie expressed his commitment to the democratic process and his readiness to focus on the forthcoming campaign alongside Ighodalo.
His departure from the state government is seen as a significant step in his political journey, as he aims to contribute to the PDP’s efforts to secure victory in the highly anticipated election.
