Nigeria has lost one of its foremost elder statesmen as former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has died at the age of 78.
In a statement issued by the family on Saturday, 9 August, the respected politician and public servant was said to have passed away peacefully.
The family described Chief Ogbeh as a man of integrity, whose life was defined by decades of dedicated service to the nation and his community.
“Chief Audu Ogbeh departed this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community,” the statement read.
Ogbeh’s political career spanned several decades, during which he served in key leadership positions, including as National Chairman of the PDP and later as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, where he championed policies aimed at boosting food production and rural development.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
