In a colourful display of culture and community pride, the member representing Oredo West in the Edo State House of Assembly, Dr Richard Osaro Edosa, has been conferred with the revered title Nwannedinamba I of Edda Okeigbo, marking one of the highest honours bestowed during this year’s Edda Day Celebration and Fund Raising.
The title was awarded at the 2025 edition of the annual festival, held under the theme “Joyful Sacrifice for Development”, which brought together leaders, indigenes, and friends of the Edda Okeigbo community in a celebration of unity and collective progress.
Dr Edosa, who attended the event as the Distinguished Guest of Honour, described the recognition as both humbling and inspiring.
“It was an honour to join the Nzukọ Edda Okeigbo community in a gathering rooted in unity, culture, and development,” he said. “I was deeply humbled to be conferred with the title Nwannedinamba I of Edda Okeigbo. This recognition is a reminder that leadership is most meaningful when it reflects service, brotherhood, and a shared commitment to community progress.”
He expressed profound gratitude to the elders and people of Edda Okeigbo for what he called a “significant and heartfelt honour.”
Dr Edosa, who serves as Deputy Chief Whip of the Edo State House of Assembly, reaffirmed his commitment to fostering community development and strengthening bonds across cultural lines, noting that such honours further motivate leaders to contribute meaningfully to society.
The Edda Day Celebration remains a unifying annual tradition, highlighting the cultural heritage of the Edda Okeigbo people while raising support for development-oriented projects across the community.
