The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is intensifying efforts to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re‑election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling for political unity across party lines in Rivers State.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State now serving in the federal cabinet, said political leaders must remain united to deepen democratic dividends for citizens. He made the call during his ongoing “thank‑you” tour of local government areas a visit he says is both a gesture of gratitude for support in the 2023 elections and a platform to secure backing for Tinubu in 2027.

Describing the political situation in Rivers as transcending traditional party divisions, Wike pointed to what he calls a “Rainbow Coalition” under the Renewed Hope Family, a broad alliance blending members of major parties behind the president’s agenda.

“In Rivers, we don’t have a party now; what we have is a coalition united behind President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope initiative,” Wike told stakeholders, urging community leaders to continue working together for development and political continuity.

The initiative has attracted backing from influential state elders, who endorsed the coalition and pledged support for Tinubu’s re‑election, citing past gains and the promise of future progress.

Wike’s campaign comes amid broader debates over political strategy and party dynamics in Rivers, with some critics questioning the implications of cross‑party alliances ahead of the 2027 polls. However, the minister maintains unity and common purpose are key to delivering benefits to the people.
