A major scandal has rocked Benin City as Bishop Gideon Osagie Osazee, founder of Rollo Life of Christ Brethren Ministry, has been arrested by the Edo State Government over allegations of sexual abuse involving two biological sisters aged 13 and 17.
According to reports, the victims said the bishop abused his position of spiritual authority, allegedly intimidating them into silence with threats and manipulation. The case surfaced after the girls confided in a trusted family member, prompting days of surveillance before his arrest.
The Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Eugene Abdullah, confirmed that other children from the church have also come forward with similar complaints. The case has now been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Edo State Police for prosecution.
As news broke, angry residents reportedly vandalized the church, expressing outrage over the allegations. While Osazee has denied wrongdoing, claiming a “consensual relationship” with the older girl, preliminary findings from the Vivian Sexual Assault Referral Centre reportedly support the victims’ accounts.
The Edo State Government says justice will be served and the rights and safety of the victims are a top priority. Advocacy groups are now calling for stronger child-protection measures, especially within religious spaces.
