The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Andrew Momodu as Commissioner-designate, following the approval of Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State.
In a statement issued on Friday, the government described Momodu as a seasoned political administrator and public affairs practitioner with broad experience in governance, security coordination, and democratic engagement.
Momodu previously served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Public Order, a role in which he was actively involved in coordinating key security and public safety initiatives across the state. His career in public service also includes working as a political aide to Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, where he gained experience in party organization and political mobilization.
The Commissioner-designate has also been involved in civic education and political advocacy aimed at strengthening democratic participation. In 2023, he contested for a seat in the House of Representatives as part of his drive for greater public service and representation.
In line with constitutional provisions, Momodu’s nomination will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The State government said Governor Okpebholo remains focused on building a team of capable and forward-looking leaders to advance his administration’s agenda of sustainable growth, inclusive development, and improved service delivery across Edo State.
