The Nigeria Police Force has wrapped up the 15th Biennial Police Games, BIPOGA “Asaba 2026,” with Force Headquarters emerging overall champions.
The week-long sporting event, held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, ended on a high note, showcasing athletic excellence, discipline and unity across police formations nationwide.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, described the Games as a defining moment for the Force, noting that beyond competition, it reinforced resilience, teamwork and shared purpose.
According to him, the theme, “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action,” was reflected throughout the tournament, as officers displayed professionalism, mutual respect and commitment. He stressed that the discipline gained through sports directly enhances operational readiness and service delivery.
Declaring the Games closed, Delta State Deputy Governor, Monday John Onyeme, commended the Police for their conduct, praising their dedication and sportsmanship. He also reaffirmed the state’s support for sports as a tool for unity, youth development and national growth.
The colourful closing ceremony featured football finals, a frisbee display, tug-of-war contests, 4×100 relay races, invitational events involving sister agencies, and a closing concert.
At the end of the competition, Force Headquarters topped the medal table, while Zone 2 Lagos and Zone 9 finished second and third respectively.
The Police leadership said the unity and discipline displayed during the Games would be sustained in policing duties across the country.
