Brighton & Hove Albion produced a stunning performance at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, sweeping aside Premier League champions Arsenal 3-0 to end the Gunners’ unbeaten start to the 2026/27 season.
The Seagulls delivered a dominant display in front of their home supporters, exposing Arsenal’s defensive frailties and securing a statement victory that lifted them to third place in the Premier League table.
Brighton opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Pascal Groß found the breakthrough, putting the hosts firmly in control of the contest.
Arsenal struggled to respond as Brighton maintained the pressure and continued to dictate proceedings.
The hosts doubled their advantage just before half-time, with Charalampos Kostoulas striking in the 45th minute to send Brighton into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead.
Any hopes of an Arsenal comeback were effectively extinguished 12 minutes after the restart when Chema Andrés added Brighton’s third in the 57th minute.
The result marked a major setback for Arsenal, who had entered the fixture unbeaten, while Brighton extended their impressive home record this season to three wins and one draw.
For Brighton, the emphatic victory represents more than three points. The Seagulls have now announced themselves as a serious force early in the campaign, with the manner of the victory against the reigning champions providing an added statement.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will have to quickly regroup after suffering their first defeat of the season in emphatic fashion.
