The Edo State Football Association has secured a major boost for grassroots football after sealing a strategic partnership with DAAR Communications PLC ahead of the 2026 Edo FA Cup.
As part of the collaboration, the media organisation donated branded jerseys, football socks and other sporting items to support teams participating in the state’s flagship football competition.
The sporting materials were formally presented in Benin City by a delegation from DAAR Communications led by a representative of the Managing Director, Marcel Anyalechi, who travelled from Abuja for the ceremony.
The initiative received the backing of the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., whose leadership the Edo FA credited for the organisation’s continued support for grassroots sports development.
Officials of the Edo FA, led by Chairman Fred Newton Erhunwunse, received the delegation alongside Vice Chairman Paul Ojeisekhoba, Secretary Richard Otupate, and the Chairman of the 2026 Edo FA Cup Organising Committee, Mikhail Igbinovia. Also present was the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Edo State Chapter, Felix Evbodi.
Speaking during the presentation, Erhunwunse described the partnership as a significant milestone for football development in the state.
“This partnership with DAAR Communications PLC is a welcome development for football in Edo State. The support through the provision of jerseys and other sporting items will add great value to the organisation of the 2026 Edo FA Cup,” he said.
