The Super Eagles of Nigeria continued their unbeaten run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with a narrow 1-0 victory over Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 87th minute to secure all three points for the home side.
The match, held in front of a passionate Nigerian crowd, saw both teams battling intensely, but neither could find the breakthrough for most of the 90 minutes. Just when it seemed like the game was heading for a goalless draw, Dele-Bashiru, playing with determination, seized his moment.
His clinical finish in the dying minutes brought the stadium to life and sealed Nigeria’s victory.
With this win, Nigeria continues their unbeaten streak in the qualifiers, having won two games and drawn one so far. The Super Eagles are now in a strong position as they push towards securing a spot in the prestigious AFCON 2025 tournament.
