Residents of Oredo Ward 10 are witnessing visible development as the lawmaker representing Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Richard Osaro Edosa, continues to roll out people-focused projects aimed at improving living standards and strengthening community infrastructure.
Verified records from the constituency’s media office show that several projects spanning infrastructure, education and economic empowerment have been completed across strategic locations in the ward.
At African Church Street off Igbesanwan Road, a solar-powered borehole alongside a solar street light has been installed, providing residents with clean water while improving security and nighttime visibility.
Solar street lights have also been strategically mounted at Oneuro Lane One, Oneuro Lane Two, Oneuro Street, Ohuoba Street and within Ogboka Community along the Oshondi Palace axis off Sakponba Road. Another street light was installed inside the premises of the Odionwere of Ogboka Community to enhance safety in the traditional area.
Further details obtained by this online newspaper reveal that the borehole at Owena Street off Sakponba Road has also been rehabilitated, restoring access to potable water for residents.
In the education sector, a major facelift has been delivered at Oza Primary School where a block of six classrooms and two offices was reconstructed.
The renovated building has been fully furnished with pupils’ desks, classroom chairs, teachers’ tables, chairs and writing boards to improve the learning environment for pupils and teachers.
The school also benefitted from the full reactivation of its borehole system. The project included the removal of damaged casing and pumps, installation of new pipes and pumping equipment, provision of a generator and construction of protective block walling and slabs to guard against theft and vandalism.
Beyond physical infrastructure, the lawmaker has expanded empowerment programmes aimed at strengthening the local economy.
Residents across the constituency have received grinding machines and generators to support small-scale businesses, while petty traders have benefitted from interest-free loans designed to increase productivity and boost household incomes.
Youth development has also received attention, with over 200 young people from the constituency sponsored for professional web design training at Amena Academy, equipping them with digital skills for the modern technology-driven economy.
In addition, students across the six wards of the constituency, including Ward 10, were sponsored for registration in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examinations to support their pursuit of higher education.
The constituency office further disclosed that several job placements and empowerment opportunities have been facilitated for residents, directly impacting Ward 10 and other parts of Oredo West.
Community leaders say the growing list of projects reflects a sustained commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment and improved quality of life for residents across the constituency.
