The Member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dekeri Anamero, widely known as Danco, on Thursday held his third constituency briefing at his office in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Addressing his constituents, the lawmaker reflected on his 18-month journey in office, outlining key achievements in legislation, development projects, and social initiatives.
Speaking with a tone of humility, Hon. Anamero reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and periodic engagement with the people.
“I promised during my campaign to always return to you to provide updates and share ideas. Today, I am here to brief you on our progress and renew our shared vision for Etsako,” he said.
Hon. Anamero disclosed the sponsorship of four significant bills and motions aimed at improving healthcare, education, and community development.
Healthcare Improvements: A bill to establish the Federal Medical Centre in Ukuoke-Uzairue aims to reduce the high mortality rate from curable diseases.
Solid Minerals Development: A bill advocating for the development of solid mineral host communities mirrors the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act for oil-producing areas.
Educational Advancement: A bill to amend the Federal Colleges of Education Act to establish a technical college in Okpella reflects his focus on empowering the youth through education.
Presidency Reform: Co-sponsorship of a bill proposing a single six-year presidential tenure with a rotational structure among Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Highlighting a motion that called for free WAEC enrolment for underprivileged students, Hon. Anamero stated, “Although the motion did not pass, it was a well-received initiative addressing the challenges faced by parents after fuel subsidy removal.”
The lawmaker prioritised critical infrastructure needs within the constituency, focusing on erosion control, rural electrification, and road rehabilitation.
Solar Streetlights: Installed across 30 communities, including Auchi, Okpella, and Uzairue, improving safety and accessibility.
Borehole Installations: Solar-powered water projects have been completed in over 15 locations to address water scarcity.
Education Infrastructure: Blocks of classrooms were constructed in Afokpella, Ogute-Okpella, and other communities to enhance learning environments.
Electricity Access: A 509 KVA transformer was installed in Iddo Okpella, addressing the power needs of residents.
Additionally, assessments by the National Ecological Agency and Rural Electrification Agency were facilitated through personal funding by Hon. Anamero to secure federal attention for larger projects.
Through his foundation, the Anamero Idofe Anamero Foundation, Hon. Anamero continues to support education and empowerment.
WAEC Scholarships: Over 15,000 students have benefitted from scholarships funded by the foundation in 2023 and 2024.
Empowerment Programmes: Farmers received fertilisers, flood victims were provided relief materials, and cash support was distributed to disaster survivors and bereaved families.
Training and Employment: Selected individuals received training in vocational skills with cash support provided post-training.
“These efforts are not funded by public resources but are personal initiatives to uplift the less privileged,” he noted.
Hon. Anamero acknowledged challenges, particularly in securing federal approval for large-scale projects, such as the Okpella-Iyuku road rehabilitation and erosion control measures. However, he expressed optimism for 2025, pledging to prioritise Etsako’s interests in the National Assembly.
“Our journey has only begun,” he assured the constituents. “Every day in this office is dedicated to improving the lives of our people.”
As the session concluded, Hon. Anamero encouraged his constituents to hold him accountable while tracking his performance. “Etsako deserves nothing less than our best,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to their welfare.
The event marked another milestone in the representative’s transparent approach to governance, inspiring hope for continued development in Etsako Federal Constituency.
