Nigerian troops have uncovered an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Plateau State and arrested several suspects linked to the operation during a coordinated security raid.
According to reports, troops operating under Operation Enduring Peace stormed the illegal factory in Gwandanu Village, Langtang North Local Government Area, where suspects were allegedly caught fabricating sophisticated firearms. Security operatives recovered weapons and several industrial machines reportedly used for producing illegal arms.
Military authorities disclosed that the raid led to the arrest of suspects while troops also intensified mop-up operations to track down fleeing members of the criminal network. Recovered items reportedly included AK-47 rifles, a G3 rifle, generating sets, welding and drilling machines, as well as other weapon-production tools.
In a related operation in Kaduna State, troops pursuing armed attackers around Gidan Waya community arrested a suspected gunrunner and recovered additional firearms and logistics items abandoned by fleeing criminals.
Security officials said the operations form part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons and dismantle criminal syndicates fueling insecurity across Plateau, Kaduna, and neighboring states.
