The EFCC has arrested former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, in the Rigasa area after weeks of surveillance and tracking.
According to EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, Mamman went into hiding after being convicted by the Federal High Court in Abuja on 12 counts linked to the diversion of funds meant for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.
Olukoyede said Justice James Omotosho found Mamman guilty on May 7, 2026, after the court ruled that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court also held that about N22 billion meant for critical power infrastructure was diverted through proxy companies.
The EFCC boss said arresting Mamman was important to ensure he serves his jail term, adding that intelligence was deployed to track and apprehend him.
Mamman, who served as Minister of Power under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to
2021, oversaw major electricity projects including Mambilla and Zungeru.
After failing to appear in court for sentencing on May 13, the court sentenced him in absentia to multiple prison terms.
He is also facing another corruption case at the FCT High Court over an alleged 31 billion naira fraud
