Three former ministers who dumped President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet to pursue governorship ambitions under the All Progressives Congress have suffered major political setbacks after losing their party primaries in their respective States.

Among those who failed to secure the APC tickets is former Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, who resigned from the Federal Executive Council to contest the Bauchi State governorship race.

Also losing out was former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down from office to seek the APC governorship ticket in Oyo State.

In Gombe State, former Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, equally failed in his bid to emerge as the party’s governorship candidate after resigning from Tinubu’s cabinet.

The defeats have triggered reactions within political circles, with observers describing the outcome as a major blow to the ambitions of the former ministers ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Further details obtained by this online newspaper revealed that the trio had resigned from their ministerial positions believing their federal influence and political structures would give them an edge in the APC primaries.

However, the results from the contests showed the intense power struggles and shifting alliances currently shaping internal politics within the ruling party across several States.
