The Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, has been arrested following the issuance of a court warrant for his arrest.
Adeyemi was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon, moments after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his arrest.
The arrest followed the judge’s issuance of a warrant directing law enforcement authorities to take Adeyemi into custody.
Authorities are yet to release full details of the circumstances surrounding his arrest or the specific charges against him.
The PFIPC, which Adeyemi claimed to head, has repeatedly been described by authorities as a non-existent organisation, with investigations into its activities attracting widespread public attention.
Further details are expected as the case progresses.
