Reps Give IGP 48 Hours to Produce Alleged Fake Agency DG

The House of Representatives has ordered the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, to produce the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, within 48 hours over an ongoing investigation into the controversial agency.

The directive was issued by the House Ad-hoc Committee probing the activities and legal status of the PFIPC, as lawmakers intensified efforts to unravel allegations surrounding the agency and its leadership.

The committee specifically directed the IGP to ensure Adeyemi’s appearance before the panel within the stipulated timeframe to answer questions relating to the investigation.

The move follows mounting concerns over allegations that the PFIPC is operating without proper legal backing, with Adeyemi accused of presenting himself as the Director-General of what lawmakers have described as an alleged fake government agency.

The committee maintained that Adeyemi’s appearance is crucial to its investigation and warned that failure to comply with the directive could attract further legislative action.

The House reaffirmed its commitment to exposing any individual or organisation allegedly operating under the guise of a government institution without lawful authority, insisting that those found culpable would face the full weight of the law.

The latest order signals a renewed determination by the National Assembly to safeguard the integrity of government institutions and prevent the proliferation of unauthorised agencies capable of misleading investors and members of the public.
