More than 2,000 Cristiano Ronaldo fans reportedly stormed Madeira Cathedral — only to discover they had turned up for the wrong wedding.
Thousands of Cristiano Ronaldo supporters were left red-faced after descending on Madeira Cathedral expecting to witness the football superstar marry his longtime partner, Georgina Rodríguez.
Instead, the excited crowd was greeted by Portuguese couple Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, whose wedding had absolutely nothing to do with Ronaldo.
The confusion reached hilarious levels when fans reportedly surrounded the bride’s Rolls-Royce, mistakenly believing she was Georgina.
As the crowd surged around the vehicle, the bride’s bridesmaids were forced to battle through the sea of Ronaldo supporters to clear a path for her into the cathedral.
The fans had apparently convinced themselves that CR7’s much-anticipated wedding was finally happening, turning the cathedral into an unexpected football fan zone.
The priest eventually put an end to the madness, confirming that the couple getting married were not Ronaldo and Georgina — and that their wedding was the only ceremony scheduled at the cathedral that day.
In the end, there was no Ronaldo wedding, no Georgina Rodríguez and certainly no football superstar.
Just one very confused bride who suddenly found herself at the centre of a Ronaldo frenzy she never asked for.
