Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa has emerged as the new Minority Leader of the Edo State 8th House of Assembly, while Hon. Ojie Eugene Inegbeboh has been named Deputy Majority Leader of the House.

Osawaru’s emergence followed a letter from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nominating her as the new Minority Leader.

The lawmakers subsequently considered and approved the letter during plenary, formally confirming Osawaru’s elevation to the minority leadership position.

The development places Osawaru at the head of the opposition bloc in the Edo Assembly, where she is expected to play a central role in articulating the minority’s position on legislation, government policies and issues affecting residents across the state.

In a related leadership development, Hon. Ojie Eugene Inegbeboh emerged as the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, further reshaping the leadership structure of the 8th Assembly.

The latest changes come amid a broader shake-up in the Edo Assembly following the resignation of Blessing Agbebaku as Speaker and the emergence of Yekini Idiaye as his successor.

The new appointments are expected to usher in a fresh phase in the operations of the Assembly as lawmakers settle into the reconfigured leadership structure.
