An aide to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and supporter of President Bola Tinubu, identified as Egogo, has come under scrutiny after struggling to name five achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government during a TikTok live session.

The exchange became heated when participants challenged Egogo to list five accomplishments of the Tinubu administration. When pressed to name just two, he reportedly mentioned the coastal road project and the removal of the petrol subsidy.

However, participants questioned his choice, raising allegations that work on the coastal road project had stalled. Egogo reportedly failed to provide a substantive response to the challenge during the exchange.

The discussion soon degenerated into a heated argument, with the governor’s aide accusing the hosts of bias and claiming he was being unfairly treated because he was not part of the Federal Government.

Tensions escalated further as participants criticised his responses, with Egogo reportedly resorting to insults and threats during the confrontation.

The controversy deepened when he declared that opposition parties would not be allowed to paste campaign posters in Edo State, describing the state as an APC-controlled territory.

His remarks drew pushback from other participants, who argued that Nigeria operates under a democratic system in which opposition parties are entitled to exercise their lawful political rights.

The exchange has reignited debate over political tolerance, freedom of expression and the responsibility of government aides and party supporters to defend their political positions with facts rather than hostility.

Egogo’s remarks about opposition campaign posters have also raised concerns about the treatment of rival political parties in Edo State as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
