The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State to give full support to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf even before his defection to the party.
Senator Barau said the President emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation to ensure effective governance in the state.
He made this known while speaking with journalists in Kano on Tuesday.
According to him, President Tinubu whom he described as a seasoned political leader advised party stakeholders to work closely with the governor and avoid any actions that could distract him from delivering good governance to the people of Kano State.
“Today is a day I can sleep with peace of mind because our party now has a governor. For over a year, we have been receiving defectors from different parties, including the NNPP. Now, by the grace of God, we have received a sitting governor of a state like Kano,” Barau said.
The Deputy Senate President stated that the APC in Kano should now focus on supporting Governor Yusuf to succeed, noting that unity within the party is crucial for achieving progress.
“What is most important now is to support him and offer advice, including prayers. The situation in Kano requires us to come together democratically to help him succeed,” he added.
Barau further stressed that following the governor’s entry into the APC, all forms of internal political rivalry and personal ambitions within the party should be set aside to ensure stability and development in the state.
