Academic Records: Present your evidence within 30 days or else, Soyinka spites fire

Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has given a 30-day deadline to anyone questioning the legitimacy of his academic credentials.
He has urged these individuals to provide evidence supporting their claims to the relevant investigative bodies in Nigeria.
Soyinka obtained an honors degree in English Literature from Leeds University between 1954 and 1957.
He stayed in the city to write two plays, “The Swamp Dwellers” and “The Lion and the Jewel,” before moving to London. There he worked as a play reader for the Royal Court Theatre before returning to Nigeria in 1960.
Previous reports online had suggested that James Gibbs, a professor, disputed Soyinka’s first-class degree from Leeds University.
In a statement titled “A moral call to amoral conscripts,” Soyinka has stated that he is willing to give up any honors and achievements he has received in his writing career if these allegations are proven to be true. He has called upon those making these allegations to submit any supporting documents to the directorates of prosecutions, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
