Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has been named Atalanta’s Player of the Season for the 2023/2024 campaign, capping a sensational year for the 26-year-old.
Lookman, who also clinched the prestigious Serie A Player of the Season award, has been instrumental in Atalanta’s success both domestically and in Europe.
Lookman’s standout performance came in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, held at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The winger scored a stunning hat-trick, netting all three goals in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory.
His first goal came just 12 minutes into the game, followed by his second in the 26th minute, and he completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute. This remarkable feat secured Atalanta’s first European trophy.
Throughout the Europa League campaign, Lookman was a key player, contributing five goals in total, including his three in the final. His exceptional form continued in Serie A, where he played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s fourth-place finish.
Lookman scored 11 goals and provided 8 assists in 31 league appearances, helping the team accumulate 69 points.
In addition to his league performances, Lookman also found the net in the Italian Cup, bringing his total contributions for the season to an impressive 27 goals and assists. In 45 matches across all competitions, he scored 17 goals and registered 10 assists.
Lookman’s achievements this season mark a significant milestone in his career. The former RB Leipzig player has solidified his place as a top talent in European football, earning recognition from both his club and the Serie A league.
