Festus Alenkhe is a highly accomplished journalist who has made significant contributions to the Nigerian media industry over the last two decades. He was born in Okhuesan Community, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.
His educational background is diverse and impressive. He attended different schools, including Arinze Primary School, Niger College.
Young Alenkhe later enrolled at the Utoka Grammar School, where his brilliance shook his mates and teachers alike as he obtained his West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) in flying colours. He also attended the College of Education, Ekiadolor, where he studied English/Linguistics and obtained his National Certificate in Education (NCE).
Festus Alenkhe’s passion for journalism and broadcasting has led him to pursue higher education in his field.
He has a Diploma Certificate in Broadcast Journalism from the prestigious New York Film Academy and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and Diplomacy (B.A.) from the University of Benin.
He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, IIJ, affiliated to the University of Maiduguri. Festus Alenkhe’s work in the media industry has been exceptional, and he has worked on various programs, including Crime Watch and Crime Alert on both Radio and Television.
These programs have contributed significantly to the Nigerian society, raising awareness of crime and providing information on how to stay safe.
Festus Alenkhe’s programs have also been beneficial to Nigerians in the diaspora, providing them with valuable insights into the happenings in their home country. Festus Alenkhe is a well-travelled individual who has visited several countries, including Austria, Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States of America.
He has done an extensive investigation on the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy and visited the spot where he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, USA.
His report on the assassination has been widely acclaimed for its depth and insights. Festus Alenkhe is a passionate speaker and a resourceful individual who is committed to engaging the youths towards creating a crime-free Nigerian society.
He was the chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo state Chapter from 2001 to 2004, and Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo state Branch from 2015 to 2023.
He has received several awards for his outstanding work in the media industry, and he is currently the Manager News, Edo Broadcasting Service and Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council.
Festus Alenkhe is also the Vice Chairman of the Edo State Agency for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS and a member of the Risk Pillar Edo State Covid-19 prevention team. Festus Alenkhe is also an author with a book titled “Crime Watch”–A Security Mirror Of The Nigerian Society, which provides insights into the security challenges facing Nigeria and how to address them.
In less than two years of his election has the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Alenkhe has improved on welfare, professional support for journalists and practically transformed the Press Centre In Benin City in terms of Infrastructure development making it a siren and comfortable place for all the journalists within and outside the State. How he garnered these loud achievements in the face of distractions remains a mystery.
