The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially rolled out its timetable for the 2026 National Convention, setting the stage for a fresh round of nationwide congresses and internal party realignments.
In a decisive move, the party confirmed that the existing zoning arrangement for National Working Committee (NWC) positions will remain in force, directing all aspirants to strictly comply with the established formula as they prepare for the convention.
The announcement, contained in the party’s published schedule of activities, signals APC’s intent to maintain internal balance across geo-political zones while navigating what is expected to be a high-stakes convention.
Aspirants seeking national offices have been specifically cautioned to adhere to the zoning structure when purchasing and submitting their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms—an indication that the party is keen to avoid disputes that could arise from zoning violations.
National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who signed the notice, emphasised that the zoning framework remains valid and binding for the upcoming exercise.
With congresses set to commence across the country, political watchers say the development could shape power dynamics within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections, as stakeholders begin strategic positioning for key national roles.
