Egor, Edo State– Hon. Dennis Idahosa, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming 2024 Edo Governorship Election, has made significant promises to the people of Edo State.
Speaking on June 19, 2024, to APC members in Ward 6 and Ward 5 of Egor Local Government Area, Idahosa assured that an APC-led state government would grant full autonomy to Local Government Councils if elected on September 21.
Hon. Idahosa, who currently represents Ovia Federal Constituency, criticized the current administration under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly misusing local government funds for gubernatorial campaigns and other purposes.
He asserted that this misuse has hindered the councils’ ability to serve the people effectively. Idahosa emphasized that an APC administration would reverse this trend, ensuring that local councils have the financial independence to fulfill their responsibilities.
In addition to promising local government autonomy, Hon. Idahosa outlined the APC’s plans for improving healthcare across Edo State. He pledged that every ward in the state would have a functional health center and introduced a proposal for a universal health insurance scheme.
This initiative aims to address the issue of low-income earners being unable to afford medical services during emergencies.
Furthermore, Idahosa highlighted the APC’s commitment to harnessing the state’s gas potential to provide stable and affordable electricity, contrasting this with the PDP’s approach, which he claimed only benefits the wealthy.
He also promised job creation through partnerships with foreign investors and the creation of an enabling environment for investment.
The campaign event was attended by several notable APC leaders, including Barr. Gentleman Amegor, Hon. Osaro Eribo (LGA Vice Chairman), Mr. Joshua Uwagboe (LGA Secretary), Princess Bola Eweka (LGA Women Leader), Hon. Nosa Adams, Hon. Pius Alile, and Mr. Osahon Airunmwunde.
The Egor APC leaders are continuing their tour with visits to Ward 7 and Ward 9 today, June 20.
As the September 21 election approaches, the promises made by Hon. Dennis Idahosa and the APC have set the stage for a competitive and closely-watched race in Edo State.
