A man identified as Sunday has been caught after allegedly breaking into a house in Auchi, Edo State, and secretly living there for four days while the owner was away.

The man reportedly gained access to the property by breaking a rear window, through which he allegedly entered and stayed without the owner’s permission.

A video of his confrontation with the landlord showed Sunday admitting that he had been living in the house for about four days.

When the landlord asked how long he had occupied the property, the man replied, “I’ve stayed for like four days.”

Shocked by the revelation, the landlord questioned how the intruder could have stayed in the house, cooked meals and used its facilities without raising suspicion.

“Four days? You dey cook, dey baff, dey shit. Okay, why you come break this back window?” the landlord asked, drawing attention to the damaged window and security bars.

Asked who was responsible for the damage, Sunday admitted that he had broken the window.

He reportedly explained that he damaged the window to create an escape route in case anyone arrived unexpectedly.

“It is so that in case anybody come, I will follow through that side,” he said.

The explanation further angered the landlord, who questioned why the man would break into the property and then prepare an escape route in anticipation of being caught.

The landlord also accused him of cooking beans and rice in the house since the previous Friday, despite having no permission to occupy the property.

During the exchange, the landlord asked the man where he came from, and he identified himself as being from Bauchi State.

The landlord warned that the alleged break-in could land him in jail.

The circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the suspect was formally arrested or charged, were not established in the video.
