Six prospective candidates gunning for the vacant Rector position of the Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, have been shortlisted for the computer based test, CBT,
Four out of the six shortlisted fall into the category of existing internal lecturers already in the employ of the Poly, while the rest two are external candidates who applied for the top job
Insider sources reveals that bulk of the four internal applicants are of the engineering faculty
However, of the lot, only one of the shortlisted applicants is of Edo North extraction, of Etsako Central axis, to be precise.
Sources further said the governing board which is responsible for head hunting a suitable candidate to fill the vacant post of Rector is determined to instil transparency and erase biases in the process.
As a result, the board agreed to introduce CBT exam as a way to strengthen the process and ensure it produced the desired results
The first two or three successful candidates will ultimately face an interview panel in the final round of the process
Meanwhile, the acting Rector of the school, Engr Mustafa Zubair, is among top contenders for the plum job.
