Residents of Ayogwiri, a community in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State on Monday call on the State government to come to their rescue and fix the Auchi-Fugar road which has been destroyed by a gully.
The residents made the appeal in an interview with Uptown Press.
Investigation by this online platform revealed that the Ayogwiri axis of the Auchi-Fugar road has been cut off by the gully erosion occasioned by the heavy downpour on Sunday, hindering human and vehicular movements.
A resident of the community Oshioke Bright, told this blog that, the gully in the area is the immediate cause of the present state of the road as the heavy rain on Sunday wreaked havoc on the portion of the road resulting in the gully cutting off the Ayogwiri axis.
“The gully here, is responsible for this bad portion of the road. As heavy rain fell, the gully full of erosion cut off the road.” he explained.
Chris Osuma, another resident in the area, lamented that: “Right now we are stranded as our people can’t move to other Local Government because of this bad portion of the road.”
They appeal to the administration of governor Obaseki to come to their aid by fixing the road.
