Ayua: New Etsako village head emerges

The Ayua, a community in Etsako West Local Government of Edo State has installed Chief Abubakar Jibril Izuagie- as the new Onoku of Ayua-Uzarue.

This is coming after the transition to glory of the immediate past Village Head- his father, late Alhaji Jibril Osumah Izuagie III who died at about 89-year-old.

The Coronation ceremony which was held at the Central palace of Ayua was that of pomp and pageantry as it witnessed the presence of prominent members of the community including academia- Vice-Chancellor of Edo University, lecturers from the Auchi Polytechnic, political figures, religious leaders, traditional Chiefs and people from outside the community.

After the traditional rites were performed according to the customs of the land, the new Chief was presented to the royal family and the Ogieneni-in-Council as the new Head of Ayua community.


Chairman of the occasion and Ogieneni of Uzairue, HRM Alhaji Kadiri Imonike Omogbai IV enjoined all Ayua sons and daughters to co-operate with the new Village head as he embarks on the journey of mobilizing the people for development.

" I want to urge you all to join hands with the new Chief as he embarks on the arduous task of motivating and mobilizing Ayua indigenes to participate in the development of the community.

"Let us unite and work together to attract government-driven assistance to improve the lots of our people."

He thanked the Ogieneni-In-Council for approving the selection of Prince Abubakar Jibril Izuagie as the Community-Head of Ayua-Uzairue as this ensures the continuity of the Crown through the lineage of the King.

He said: "The position of traditional rulership is usually inheritable and runs through royal families or lineages in Ayua. This, Chief Abubakar Jibril Izuagie IV is being inducted into his royal lineage that began about the 16th century (1500AD) continuing from Ayua who migrated here with his family from Benin Kingdom, through Aabu, Gboghodo, Bonodi, Ogaga, Unonomhe, Okhiatsu.


"Idegbesor in 1869, Izuagie I in 1913, Chattah Osumah Izuagie II in 1942, Jibril Osumah Izuagie III in 1986, to the newly crowned."

On his part, the Chief Abubakar Jibril pledged not to betray the confidence repose on him as the new Village head. He thanked the people and the Ogieneni-in-Council for their support thus far. He prayed for Allah's guidance to move the community forward.

The new Village head was born on 13th August, 1983. A graduate of Accountancy from the Bauchi State Polytechnic, Bauchi. He also holds a PGD in Accountancy from the Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

He is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria. He worked briefly for the First Bank of Nigeria before moving his service to the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.
