Chairman of the House Committee on Basic Education and Services, Hon. Prof. Julius O. Ihonvbere, OON, has called on Nigerians to be patriotic.
Prof. Ihonvbere, made the call at the Abuja Book Exhibition tagged “Bringing back the reading culture” held at Sharon Ultimate Hotels Abuja to mark the end of the three (3) day event.
Welcoming Hon. Ihonvbere to the occassion, the organizer said, the purpose of the book fair was to rekindle the lost reading culture in the country, hence the major target are the younger Nigerians.
The lawmaker as the *SPECIAL GUEST OF HONOUR* while delivering his speech, blamed the present state of the nation on leadership failure as unemployment, lawlessness, embezzlement, insecurity, endless killings and bloodletting have continued unabated.
“I want to admonished young Nigerians to be patriotic citizens, listen to advices from parents and teachers, avoid people that will destroy their future, have self confidence, say the truth at all time, work hard and have faith in God. The hope of this nation and expected change is in the younger generation and they must take up the challenge to build a new Nigeria”.
Prof. Ihonvbere, further encouraged the organisers and other guests present, to support the younger generation to make the desired change possible, stating that the older generation have failed the nation completely and can only support the new generation to redeem our country again.
Some Young Nigerians from Vantage Point Academy Gwarimpa and other schools that desired mentorship were present at the ceremony to listen to the message of the erudite scholar.
The ceremony came to a close with Hon. Ihonvbere inspecting all bookstand at the fair, appreciating and purchasing some books to further exercise himself.
