As directed by His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, Yobe SEMA led by the Chairperson of Fika Local Government Area Supported 1st set of displaced persons from Gurjaji who were hosted in Maluri village of FIka Local Government Area.
The support follows displacement of Gurjaji village as a result of attack by invaders and subsequent setting of the village ablaze and displacement of the the whole Community.
The displaced persons are taking refuge in 7 neighbourhood communities of Maluri, Garin Ari, Zamba, Daddawel, Diffiyel, Zangaya, Fika.
While assessment and validation are ongoing, about 146 households with over 1500 individuals registered and verified in Maluri received First line life-saving support.
Displacement and residing in the host community comes along with an additional burden to the host and depletion of existing household resource, this is worsened by the current inflation and hardship.
While other locations and profiling of the IDPs are ongoing, those in Maluri received the following food and NFI.

The chairperson thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for the timely response and commiserated with the IDPs, urged them to be resilient as Government is with them during these trying moments.
ES SEMA Dr. Mohammed Goje assured other displaced persons in other locations to be patient as more support will reach them in due course as validation, profiling and resources mobilisation is ongoing concurrently.
