Drama In Anambra As Anti-Touting Officer Allegedly Caught Stealing During Drug Raid

Tension erupted in Nando community in Anambra State after a member of the Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad, popularly known as Ndi Aka Odo, was allegedly caught stealing money during a raid operation targeting suspected drug activities.

According to reports, the operatives stormed the business premises of a woman identified as “Nwanyi Oba,” who was accused of selling hard drugs within the community.

During the operation, one of the officers allegedly removed ₦10,500 from the woman’s bag without authorisation.

The situation reportedly escalated into public embarrassment after the alleged theft was exposed by one of the officer’s own colleagues, who was said to have become angry after not receiving a share of the money.

Witnesses claimed news of the incident spread rapidly across the community, triggering outrage among residents who condemned the alleged misconduct.

The officer was reportedly confronted over the allegation and later pleaded for forgiveness, but many residents allegedly rejected his apology and demanded sanctions against him.

Locals insisted that the officer should face the same harsh treatment Ndi Aka Odo operatives often mete out to individuals accused of theft and other criminal activities during enforcement operations.

The incident has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians raising concerns over alleged corruption, abuse of power and lack of accountability among some local enforcement operatives.

Others argued that officers saddled with the responsibility of fighting crime must be held to a higher ethical standard and punished when found engaging in criminal conduct themselves.

The controversy has further reignited debates surrounding transparency, public trust and oversight in local security and enforcement operations across the country.
