A powerful explosion tore through Mando Garage Motor Park in Kaduna in the early hours of Sunday, leaving a trail of destruction but no reported casualties.
The blast, which occurred around 4:00 a.m., was triggered by a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered bus belonging to Silver Travel & Luxury Bus. The explosion quickly spread, engulfing a second luxury bus and damaging several smaller vehicles within the park.
Eyewitnesses described a deafening sound that jolted residents awake, followed by raging flames and thick black smoke that blanketed the area.
“It was like a bomb,” one witness said, recounting the chaos as fire ripped through the motor park.
Despite the scale of the explosion, no lives were lost, though property damage is said to be extensive, with multiple vehicles severely affected.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, with early suspicions pointing to possible gas leakage, cylinder failure, or mishandling of the CNG system.
