The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has launched its governorship campaign council for the upcoming elections on September 21, 2024.
The council, composed of 36 directorates, was inaugurated with a call for party members and supporters to strive for the victory of the APC candidate.
The event was attended by notable figures including the immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who was appointed as Chairman, and Senator Matthew Urhoghide, the Director General of the campaign council.
Other attendees included former deputy governors Hon. Pius Odubu, Lucky Imasuen, and Gen. Charles Airiavhere.
In his address, Oshiomhole emphasized the importance of grassroots efforts, stating, “The campaign is Operation Win Your Unit, ward, local government, and senatorial district. Engage with your nephew, the neighbor who is an APC member, and anyone who has been affected by issues like erosion or inadequate schooling for their children.”
He further stressed the campaign’s commitment to a peaceful and democratic process, aiming for a genuine change under the leadership of Sen. Monday Okpebholo.
“We want to win this election democratically without violence. We are campaigning for a peaceful change of government. That is what democracy is all about,” Oshiomhole declared.
During the inauguration, Sen. Oshiomhole expressed confidence in the capabilities of the council members.
