With just days to the much anticipated 2024 Edo governorship election, billed to hold on Saturday, September 21, Evangelist Dr. Gospel Agochukwu JP, Senior Pastor of Shekinah Arena International Gospel Ministries, has urged the people of Edo State to vote for candidates based on their competence, not their political affiliation.
Pastor Agochukwu gave the admonition on Monday while addressing journalists in Benin City. He stressed the importance of selecting a leader who can bring the much-needed development to the State.
According to him, the future of Edo depends on electing individuals with proven track records, regardless of their party.
“They should not just vote by party. They should vote across party lines. Look for the individual that has precedent,” he advised.
The pastor further highlighted the poor State of infrastructure, particularly the deplorable condition of the roads leading to Edo State. He lamented the lack of accessible roads, particularly from PortHarcourt, urging voters to choose a candidate who can tackle these pressing issues head-on.
“Edo State needs somebody who can put his eyes on the ground and attract the necessary developments to move the State forward,” he said.
Pastor Agochukwu also underscored the role of divine intervention in the nation’s leadership, quoting scripture: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.”
He called on voters to focus on character, capability, and past performance, encouraging them to think beyond party politics for the good of the State.
