The Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Hon. Richard Edosa (APC–Oredo West) as its new Deputy Chief Whip.
The appointment ends months of uncertainty after the position, initially assigned to Edosa earlier this year, was withdrawn on the grounds that the Assembly did not recognise the office.
Edosa, who entered the House as the only Labour Party lawmaker before defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), has now been formally handed the role.
In a statement, his media team described the appointment as a recognition of his “tireless dedication, unshakable commitment to the people, and outstanding legislative contributions.”
The statement added that Edosa’s record of sponsoring people-centred motions and bills, as well as delivering projects across Oredo West, positioned him as a leader rooted in “service, humility, and innovation.”
“This new role is not just a personal achievement but a victory for the great people of Oredo West Constituency, who are proud to have one of their own occupy such a distinguished position in the State Assembly,” the team said.
