In a sermon at a mid-week vigil, Prophet Oloruntoba Ajose of Zion Ministry of C&S Mission, located in Ori-Okuta, Ikorodu, issued a strong warning to the incoming Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Speaking to his congregation, the prophet urged Okpebholo to avoid the perceived missteps of his predecessor, outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki, by keeping any promises made to political allies during his campaign.

Delivered in Yoruba, Prophet Ajose’s message emphasized the importance of honoring agreements, likening them to the covenants made by God with the people of Israel in their biblical journey. “The Almighty honors covenants,” Ajose declared. “God is displeased with those who break promises, especially if those promises played a role in their rise to power.”

According to the prophet, if Okpebholo fails to uphold these commitments, he risks being forced out of office within a year.

The warning comes just days before Okpebholo’s anticipated inauguration, marking the transition of power in Edo State. His victory over Asue Ighodalo in the recent governorship election remains contentious, with Ighodalo currently challenging the results in the Election Tribunal.
