TO ALL RELIGIOUS LEADERS IN EDO STATE

THAT SUNDAY BLOODBATH IN ST. FRANCIS CATHOLIC CHURCH ONDO STATE

Our highly respected leaders in Edo State, I greet you all in the name of the most High GOD.

May the peace and blessings of Almighty GOD continue to be with each and everyone of us.

I humbly and respectfully wish to use this privilege to appeal to everyone of us, based on what happened on Sunday 5, June 2022, when some unscrupulous evil men killed over 50 worshippers in an attack on the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Headquarters of Owo local government area of Ondo State.

Apart from condemning this devilish and barbaric act, there is need for all religious leaders in Edo State to take precautionary measures by setting up within our houses of worship, (Churches and Mosques), internal security measures that will protect the worshippers whether on Fridays, during the Jummah service and on Sundays during the Church service.

These are my recommendations:
1. Every vehicle going into the compound of Churches and Mosques should be thoroughly searched (particularly on Friday service and Sunday service).
2. Anybody carrying bags into the Churches and Mosques must submit his or her self for thorough searching (particularly on Friday service and Sunday ur service).
3. Selling and buying must be carried out, outside the Churches and Mosques compound during service.
4. Nobody should be allowed to roam the compound of Churches and Mosques during the hours of worship.
5. Let us try to install CCTV Cameras in and around the Churches and Mosques premises to monitor persons coming in and going out.
6. Able bodied young men should be mobilized for this important assignment.

These measures have become very imperative in other to protect the lives of the worshippers, since we can no longer rely on the government’s nonchalant attitude towards the protection of lives and properties of Nigerians.

Heaven they say, help those who help themselves.

This is not the time to lay blames, we are in extraordinary and precarious times. Let us not trust anyone.

All those who lost their lives in the satanic and senseless killing, may their souls continue to rest in perfect peace and may Almighty GOD grant the families of those affected the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. Amen!
