The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa, has called on religious leaders to actively contribute to the state’s development through both their involvement in governance and spiritual guidance.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in his office on Thursday, Idahosa expressed the crucial role that faith leaders can play in fostering progress in the State.
According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Friday Aghedo, the Deputy Governor emphasised that religious leaders’ participation in state affairs and their prayers were essential in ensuring the benefits of democracy reached every corner of Edo State. Idahosa, a committed Christian, affirmed that the administration of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo was fully dedicated to promoting religious harmony within the state.
“We are delighted to receive you today, as both the Governor and I are Christians, and we belong to the family of Jesus Christ,” Idahosa remarked. He further highlighted the government’s commitment to aligning its governance efforts with the values of the Christian faith, with the aim of building a stronger, more united Edo State.
Idahosa also acknowledged that the task of governance was demanding and required strength, dedication, and faith. “We urge you to continue to support us with your prayers, as we work to ensure the people of Edo State receive the dividends of democracy they deserve,” he added.
In response, Charles Evbuomwan, President of Christian Faith, praised the efforts of the Edo State government in introducing policies that have positively impacted the lives of citizens. He expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor and Governor Okpebholo for their ongoing commitment to improving the well-being of the state’s residents.
Evbuomwan concluded, “We are here to congratulate you on your appointment as Deputy Governor and to thank you for the progressive policies that are already benefiting the people of Edo State.”
