The Deputy Governor of Edo State Comrade Philip Shaibu has commissioned a block of classrooms with an administrative office at Etsako Central Local Government.
At the event, Deputy Governor, said the state government was determined to develop rural communities and urged traditional rulers to organise themselves and leverage on the several windows of opportunities available for community development in Obaseki administration.
According to him: “There are several windows we can use to develop our communities but we need to be organised to harness such opportunities. One of such windows is partnership between individuals, communities and the state government. We appreciate Hon. Damian Lawani for supporting the state government in initiating developmental projects in his constituency,”.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Joseph Oshiobugie, commended the donor of the projects. “The donation goes to show how private an individual can complement efforts of the government in achieving sustainable development. You don’t have to be in government to impact positively on the lives of people in the community,” he said.
In his speech, the Head master of the school, Mr Giwa Linus, commended the donor of the projects and said the gesture is an expression of his love for the community and urged other sons to emulate same.
The former commissioner for Youth, Sport and social Development, Hon. Damian Lawani, the projects donor, said education is the antidote to poverty which gives an opportunity to train our future Governors, Senators and even president, hence the resolve to create the enabling environment for pupils and students to acquire knowledge. He urged the benefiting schools to make good use of the facilities to allow for their durability.
