Edo Government Faults Shaibu’s Inspection of Radisson Hotel

The Edo State Government has cautioned reinstated Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu against breaching extant laws following his alleged inspection of the Radisson Hotel construction site in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Benin City.

The government’s reaction comes after a viral video surfaced, showing Shaibu allegedly assuming the role of deputy governor by inspecting the hotel site.

In response, Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser on Media Projects to Governor Godwin Obaseki, in a statement made available to Uptown Press reminded Shaibu that while a court reinstated him as the deputy governor, the State government had already appealed the ruling.

Osagie urged Shaibu to refrain from actions that could disrupt governance or violate existing laws. “Shaibu, just like any private citizen, can take a tour around the exceptional projects of Governor Godwin Obaseki,” the statement read.

However, the government emphasised that Shaibu and security agencies should avoid any actions that contravene the law or the constitution.

“Shaibu should be patient and wait for the Appeal Court to hear his matter; he needs to learn to subject himself to the authority of the law,” Osagie added.

The Edo State government also assured residents that the administration remains committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring adherence to the rule of law.
