The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has enacted two pivotal laws aimed at enhancing judicial efficiency and strengthening the governance of the State’s oil sector.
The first law increases the retirement age for magistrates from 60 to 65 years. This adjustment seeks to leverage the expertise of experienced magistrates for a longer period, ensuring the judiciary continues to deliver effective and efficient justice.
In a related development, the Governor has approved a law expanding the membership of the Edo State oil agency. This reform is intended to improve representation and operational capacity within the agency, ultimately enabling better management of the State’s oil resources and promoting sustainable economic growth.
At the signing ceremony, Senator Okpebholo reiterated his government’s dedication to institutional reforms that foster justice and economic prosperity. He noted that these new laws align with his administration’s vision of equitable governance and maximising the benefits of Edo’s natural resources for its citizens.
