The Edo State Government has officially directed all public and private schools within the State to resume for the 2024/25 academic session on Monday, September 30, 2024.

This announcement follows a previous postponement of the resumption date, which was originally set for September 9, 2024.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Benin City, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, addressed confusion surrounding the resumption date, warning the public about a circulating fake notification.
He clarified that a false message had claimed schools would resume on Monday, September 23, 2024.

The permanent secretary emphasized that this information did not originate from the Edo State Government.
“We wish to clarify that this announcement did not come from the Edo State Government and is the work of mischief makers. The information is false and should be disregarded,” Akin-Longe stated.

He reiterated that the government had postponed the reopening date to ensure adequate preparations for the new academic year.
“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of parents, guardians, and school administrators during this period,” the statement concluded.

Parents and guardians have been urged to take note of the official resumption date and ensure their wards are adequately prepared for the new session.
