The Convener and Coordinator of Edo In Safe Hands Women’s Wing, Honourable Evelyn Inneh, spearheaded a robust campaign for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, during their inaugural meeting held on Wednesday in Benin City.
The meeting saw a strong commitment from the group to rally support for Ighodalo in the upcoming 2024 Edo gubernatorial election.
Inneh announced that the rebranded Edo In Safe Hands Women’s Wing boasts over 5,000 members across the State’s 192 wards. She pledged that the group would harness all its resources to ensure Ighodalo’s victory in the September 2024 election.
“Our mission is to galvanize support for our party’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and Barrister Osarodion Ogie, in the upcoming election on September 21, 2024,” Inneh stated.
She urged all well-meaning residents and supporters to contribute to the movement through cash or material donations.
Former Vice Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Lady Belinda Uwa Ogiefa, also addressed the gathering. She emphasized the importance of hygiene to prevent the spread of cholera, which is currently affecting some States.
Ogiefa stressed the need for thorough washing of fruits and vegetables before consumption, attributing the outbreak to contaminated food and water. She appealed to attendees to prioritize their health.
Special Marshal Aisha Ogbeide delivered a brief lecture on road safety, underscoring its importance in daily life. She urged participants to check their vehicle conditions every morning, including brakes, engine oil, and tires.
Honourable Meg Otoide, representing the market women, assured attendees that Ighodalo’s administration would improve the lives of market women and small business owners through empowerment initiatives.
The event also saw the presence of notable dignitaries such as Ukinebo Dare, Career Development Strategist and Managing Director of the Edo State Skills Development Agency, and Hon. Rabiu Egujie, a representative from the State Ministry of Communication, among others.
