::A girl abducted in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area has been released after her family paid a ransom, following a tense security operation that collapsed into violence, leaving five vigilante motorcycles burnt and exposing fresh cracks in local security efforts.

The victim regained her freedom hours after negotiators reportedly met the kidnappers’ demands. A video circulating online appears to show the girl’s rescue, although the footage could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.

Security agencies were said to have launched a coordinated rescue attempt shortly after the abduction, but the operation failed after the kidnappers reportedly confronted local vigilantes in a fierce exchange. During the clash, the assailants allegedly opened fire, forcing the vigilantes to retreat.
