The Onojie of Ekpoma Kingdom, HRH Zaiki Anthony Ehizogie Abumere ll has charged the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State to work assiduously to restore the lost glory of the State owned tertiary institution.
The traditional ruler made the call when members of the new Governing Council and principal officers of university, led by the Chairman and pro-chancellor, Chief Dan Orbih paid a courtesy visit to his palace in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the new governing council to transform the fortunes of the university, saying it was made up of personality with track record of great achievements.
The monarch noted that though the challenges in the university were daunting, it can be surmounted with positive commitment from the members of the Governing Council.
He lamented that there was big disconnect between Ekpoma Community and the university during the time of the former Special Intervention Team (SIT) members, as members of the team never stepped their feet on his palace nor related with him.
He pledged his full support for the new Governing Council and thanked them for considering it appropriate to pay him a courtesy visit barely 24 hours after their inauguration by the State Governor, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo.
He prayed God to give them the wisdom and knowledge to perform their functions with utmost diligence.
The chairman and pro-chancellor, Governing Council of the university, Chief Dan Orbih while addressing the monarch informed him that they were in his palace to visit him as the host traditional ruler before commencing of their assignment.
He pledged that him and members of the council were poise to restore the glory of the university, which according to him, was the mandate was given to them by the governor, enthusing that the difference would be clear when they commence their work.
