Comrade Festus Alenkhe, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Edo State, has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to public health, safety, and security.
He was recently presented with the prestigious SaFFER Africa Ambassador Award by the World Safety Organisation (WSO). This accolade not only acknowledges his global impact but also highlights his efforts in saving lives.
The award ceremony took place at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where Dr. Ambassador Soji Olalokun, the Country Director of WSO Nigeria, expressed appreciation for Alenkhe’s tireless commitment to ensuring the safety of individuals and communities.
The World Safety Organisation, with a presence in over 100 countries, commends his remarkable achievements, which have received both local and international acclaim.
In addition to this honor, Comrade Festus Alenkhe has also been inducted as a Fellow of the Global Safety Institute, further recognizing his expertise and dedication.
His keynote address at the event shed light on the rampant issue of ostentatious lifestyles among Nigerians, citing it as a major reason for their vulnerability to criminal activities. Alenkhe stressed that safety should be a collaborative effort, irrespective of social class or status.
Prominent individuals such as the Mayor of London Borough of Lambeth 2022/2023, Pauline Akhere George, praised Comrade Festus Alenkhe’s unwavering commitment to safety and security concerns, particularly as they affect lives.
The event also received goodwill messages from esteemed organizations including the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Yashau Dogara Ahmed, FEMA, Nigeria Port Authority, and the Federal Road Safety Commission. They emphasized the critical role individuals and organizations play in disaster prevention during emergency situations.
The highlight of the ceremony was the official presentation of the SaFFER Africa Ambassador Award to Comrade Festus Alenkhe, along with his investiture as a SaFFER Africa Ambassador.
